Mount Hood is a year-round outdoor-enthusiast playground. In winter, Mount Hood Meadows, Timberline Lodge, Summit, and Ski Bowl provide an abundance of vertical feet to ski or snowboard. In addition, several areas are available for tubing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. With summer time rapidly approaching, the scope of activities is shifting, but still plentiful.
Among the abundant summer activities is the Mount Hood Adventure Park at Ski Bowl. As the name suggests, the park is located at the Ski Bowl ski area in Government Camp, Oregon. It is comprised of two areas, East and West, each with several exciting things to do.
One is the tubing run. It works off of simple physics. The run is laid with bristle mats and water misters keep the bristles wet, reducing friction. Gravity does the rest.
Do you like go-karts? They have them for all ages here. There is a shorter track for the little racers as well as a larger one for the big kids. Adults are allowed to be big kids here, too!
What could possibly make a trampoline even better? Adding bungee cords, of course!
Of course, no trip to the Mount Hood Adventure Park would be complete without running the alpine slide. Two side-by-side tracks twist and turn for a 1/2 mile down the hillside. The sleds are simple, with a brake lever and enough room for adults to drive with a smaller passenger.
The scenery is breathtaking, as well. What an amazing setting for all of this fun!
Mount Hood Adventure Park has numerous other activities available and is perfect for all ages. Less than 60 miles from Portland, it is an excellent place to spend a summer day and get the kids away from the TV and their phones. Come to think of it, it will get us adults away from the TV and phone as well. You won’t forget it!
